PHILOSOPHY

–

It’s quite simple. I relish in the making of things.
It’s about being part of the movement in bringing a concept to life. Where there is a need for sense of touch, such that I can let the form lead the process. I am in sync with the medium and coexist in the craft. The way the medium unravels organically within my hands and through to my finger tips.  This allows me to thoughtfully curate each piece, while still allowing for the shape of the art form to move freely.
The initial spark for a piece stems from my surroundings and my ability to connect with nature, and be in tune with myself as an artisan. I find myself rooted in spaces and gravitating to the makeup of the surrounding compositions. Naturally making mental colour palettes of the settings I find myself in. Whether it be the local coffee watering hole or the most recent change of landscape.  It’s those pigments and the curves and silhouettes of earths terrain that are sketched into me.
As a maker, I put emphasis on the creation process.  It remains the most intimate point between myself and the medium.  It’s at that point in the development where the piece is personal.
